Department of Ophthalmology
About Department:
Department of Ophthalmology is in existence at the institute since its inception in 2016. It sees maximum number of out patients daily at the hospital. Approximately 10,000 patients are examined and treated annually on out basis.
Since our institute is a teaching institute, we follow a strict teaching curriculum. MBBS students are taught the subject of ophthalmology through didactic lectures and clinical demonstration classes. All didactic lectures are delivered through audio-visual presentations.
Facilities:
1. Diagnostic Facilities Available:
- Slit lamp examination of anterior segment diseases
- Posterior segment examination using direct, indirect and 90 D ophthalmoscopy
- Tonometry and gonioscopy
- Automated perimetry
- A-scan ultrasonography
2. Surgical Facilities Available :
- Most advanced technique of cataract removal – Phacoemulsification with foldable intraocular lens implantation is routinely done.
- Sutureless (SICS) cataract surgery is the usual procedure done with IOL implantation in all the cases.
- Pediatric cataract surgeries are done.
- Glaucoma, DCT/DCR, pterygium surgeries are done.
- Oculoplastic surgeries like ptosis, entropion/ectropion are done.
