DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY MEDICINE


Scope of Community Medicine:

  1. To train medical graduates in preventive, promotive, and rehabilitative services besides curative care for common health problems. 
  2. To teach them about, socio-cultural demographic factors and their role in health outcomes.
  3. To orient about national health programs and health care services and sensitize them about health care activity for preventive, promotive, curative, and rehabilitative services.


  • The Department of community medicine came into existence in the year 2016 with the admission of 100 students. They are taught both theories as well as clinical aspects, especially those related to public health.
  • MBBS students are trained in different aspects of public health like health sector planning, management, screening, Diagnosis, Prevention of Clinical infection, Communicable and Non- Communicable Diseases (NCD), and Biostatistics.
  • Apart from MBBS training, the department is also actively involved in research and epidemiological investigations for the state government as well as independent research activities with National and International organizations under college administration and doing health-related surveys, health camps, and epidemic investigations for the state, working in collaboration with Director of Medical Education and Directorate of Health Services, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.


Objectives of our Department


To produce Indian Medical Graduates in modern medicine who will be well-versed and equipped with the knowledge, skill, and attitude to combat the various health problems faced by the peoples of various strata.
